Artist Bio

All About Sarah McGonigle

Sarah has a degree in Fine Art and Education from Homerton College Cambridge and has completed a diploma in Botanical Illustration with the Society of Botanical Artists. She paints a variety of subject matter, primarily plants and flowers in watercolour.

Sarah regularly attends watercolour classes with Petula Stone, and has taken part in  many classes at the University of Cambridge Botanic Garden.

Sarah has been fortunate to have wonderful teachers there such as Gael Sellwood, Petula Stone, Reinhild Raistrick, Georita Harriott and Penny Price. She is a member of The Society of East Anglian Watercolourists, and has had work exhibited at the Babylon Gallery in Ely  as part of the Society’s Selected Exhibition. In 2018, Sarah received The Brush Award for her painting of a Turks Turban Squash. Sarah also exhibits with the TRIA Group at Cambridge open Studios,but will be taking a break in 2024

The Brush Award

Sarah is a proud member of the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists. She received The Brush Award for her painting of a Turks Turban Squash exhibiting with the SEAW in 2018.

Cambridge Open Studios

TRIA

Sarah has been exhibiting at Cambridge Open Studios as part of TRIA for three years. Each summer, over 500 artists in Cambridgeshire open their studios to the public, inviting people to meet the artists and see how their work is made.

Society Of Botanical Artists

Diploma

Established in 1985, The Society of Botanical Artists brings together artists of national and international repute. Sarah completed a diploma in Botanical Illustration from the SBA in 2013
